Wine, Words & Wednesday, No. 97

The right wine for you- 6 bottles for just $34.99!

Today’s words come to us from American astrophysicist, science-educator, and all around big thinker, Neil deGrasse Tyson.  I read his biography on Wikipedia (I know, I know), and I learned that most of his research has focused on “observations in cosmology, stellar evolution, galactic astronomy, bulges, and stellar formation.”

Yeah.  I have no idea what any of that is.

When he’s not researching bulging star galaxies, NdGT is also a wine lover and collector (something I do know!).  His wine cellar is heavy on Bordeaux and Gran Reserva Rioja.  Hello, kindred wine-spirit!  NdGT and I really need to have dinner together.  We’ll talk about wine first.  And sometime after the first bottle of Rioja, he can tell me all about molecular clouds.  I’ll pretend to follow along.

And now, today’s words . . .

Specifically, NdGT was talking about a bottle of 1900 Château Latour he opened for New Year’s Eve in 2000 (I didn’t do anything even remotely that cool for Y2K).  And I don’t have any experience at all with a wine that’s been through the past 100 years.  The oldest bottle I’ve had was a Château Margaux from 1964 (The Golden Anniversary of Olympic Gold).  But the depth of experience that wine brought to our evening . . . life stock, check.
