It’s been far too long since I’ve sat down to do a W3 post. Excuses, excuses . . . but I’ve been buried in research for my WSET Diploma case study exam on South Africa and my coursework paper on Cognac. And I have a wicked case of writers block, but that’s a post for another day.
I woke up this morning to the sad news that Stephen Hawking had passed. Unquestionably one of the world’s most brilliant minds, Hawking also had a cracking sense of humor.
Back in 2009, attempting to settle the debate over whether time travel is possible or not, Hawking threw a party for “time-travelers”, complete with Krug (!!) Champagne. The catch? He didn’t send the invitations until after the party was over. Hawking hypothesized if the guests had shown up to the party, he would have proof that time travelers exist in the future.
Hawking said, “I sat there a long time, but no one came, so time travel is not real, probably.” And then he added,
Fair winds and following seas, Mr. Hawking.
Salud!
Haha! I heard the news this morning, so sad. 😦
