Yep. Still playing catch-up ball with the last of the Photography 101 themes I missed last month.
Today’s assignment is: Double. We’re simply supposed to interpret the word — any way we’d like.
I snapped this photo this morning — of not one but two blue jays at my bird feeder. Double blue jays! It’s a little unusual for blue jays to land on my feeder. They like to lurk in the trees beside the feeder and swoop down when other (little) birds are snacking. And then they eat whatever seeds fall onto the ground. They’re bird bullies.
They must have been really hungry today, though. Because I had a gang of three blue jays who hung around (and mostly on) my feeder all morning. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t fun to watch them — they’re beautiful birds.
I wonder if they will be back tomorrow for another pass at the buffet?

Thanks so much! And yes, I do have a zoom lens (70-300mm). I also shoot through a window — if I go outside, I scare the birds away! Cheers!

You have to have a zoom. thats incredible. I have a blue bird that comes to my garden door, I leave food for him one day I’ll try to get a photo, they are such beautiful birds.

I do have a zoom . . . and I shoot my bird photos through a window, no less! If I try to go outside, I just end up scaring them away!! Please try to get a shot of your garden blue jay . . . I’d love to see him!! Cheers, Suzanne!

Blue Jays are so pretty yet they are, as you said, bird bullies. Being a life long Toronto Blue Jay fan, I’ve never quite understood the choice of team name.
Great photo!

I was curious, so I Googled it. Found this on Wikipedia: The name “Blue Jays” came about when the team held a “name the team” contest in 1976, which involved more than 4,000 suggestions. “Blue Jays” was chosen by majority owner Labatt Breweries. So there you have it. It’s beer’s fault! 😉! Cheers!!

We have blue jays where I live but they don’t have those beautiful tail feathers – they almost look like stain glass windows. Lovely photograph!
