A vintage grape crusher, retired to “pasture” at Casanel Vineyards in Leesburg, Virginia.
Our theme for the Weekly Photo Challenge this week is: Extraordinary.
Our instructions: Mundane and meaningful objects. Beautiful everyday things. This week, surprise us with something or someone (extra)ordinary.
Last week, I visited Casanel Vineyards in Leesburg, Virginia. There’s a full blog post on my visit coming soon (as soon as I come up for air), but in the meantime, I wanted to share this photo with you.
I’m not an expert on antiques or winemaking equipment, but I believe this is a vintage grape crusher/de-stemmer. It stands quietly next to a few rows of Carmenere. At first glance, it just looks like a great old piece of vintage winemaking equipment. But when I walked around to the backside, I found an anthropomorphic surprise. This ordinary old crusher has a face!
