Weekly Photo Challenge: Future

A young bald eagle at the Marblehead Lighthouse State Park in Ohio.

Our theme for the Weekly Photo Challenge this week is:  Future.
Our instructions:  This week, share an image that represents the potential of things to come.

Well, I’m almost positive this is a young (probably 3 years old?) bald eagle.  When I took this photo, I thought I was taking a picture of an osprey (he was reeeeaaaaalllly high up in a tree). But once I downloaded the photos and saw that huge yellow beak . . . I almost squealed with bald eagle delight (OK, there was actual squealing)!

The bald eagle has been the national bird of America since 1782 . . . a living symbol of freedom and strength.  My eagle looks like he (she?) could use a good shampoo, but young eagles don’t typically develop the tell-tale white head until their 4th year.  This young guy still has so much growing and changing to do.  So many good things to come.

Here’s to his future . . . and ours!

      1. I was fortunate to actually see bald eagles mating in the air. They do tumbles and rolls. It is really cute to watch.
I will probably never see that again. I have seen that on a tv documentary once. That Is how I knew what it was they were doing.
